VOs, iMac, Commissions, Ideas, Saphiria.Net, Studio Renovation

I finished up Benstudio’s VOs the other day … now I have the following left:

+ Nukester
+ DNR
+ Buccura?
+ Meglomovies

I’m not really sure what happened to Buccura … he never got back to me with a final draft of his script so I never got around to doing the VOs. I guess his real-life job got the best of him …

As with Nukester, he intends to release his movie on the October 13th, Friday, so I’ll do those next. I just read his script last night. My role is not as big as I thought it would but it looks like quite a thriller of a movie. I can’t wait to see how it’ll turn out. :)

Soon after, I will do VOs for DNR’s TMO Kings of Comedy. For this one, I had to write up a skit instead of reciting some lines. It’s a lot of fun, actually, and got me to develop Stirling’s character a bit since she’ll be the one performing the Stand-Up Comedy. From what I remember off the top of my head, she’ll complain about being tall and flat-chested, well-endowed teenagers, her mother, and her initials.

Lastly is Meglomovies. The original intention was to release the movie at the end of October but according to his schedule, he’s not sure about it and might end up releasing it some time in December.

Meanwhile, I’m saving up for a 24 inch iMac. I’m looking to purchasing it sometime in December and then receiving it some time in January (due to the Christmas shopping rush). Personally, I could have settled with a 20 inch, but I heard the graphics chip on the 24 inch can be upgraded as MXM Cards become more mainstream, despite me not being a big nVidia fan… but heck! If I can swap out the graphics chip in a couple years down the road, as well as the processor, then I’m game! My credit limit is still 600 bucks (it’s been like that since my first year in college and I never bothered to get it increased now that I have a job) so I’ll have to use my check-card to charge it … I find it a good thing because it’s one less thing I have to pay off over time.

Speaking of money, I need to figure out what kind of prices I would set for commissions for making costumes and skins. I know there are folks out there that are desperate to pay REAL money for certain kinds of digital assets. I’ve seen it in every modding community. It’s INSANE! On the other hand, I’ll still make costumes for free but it’ll just be from my own deranged and twisted ideas, or simple 15 minute recolours for friends that can’t be bothered to do that sort of thing themselves.

Speaking of ideas, I have quite a bunch already for costumes so I’ll be pumping some out over the next quarter as well as sharing my sketches as time goes by. I almost forgot that if I continue to showcase, the website may eventually turn into a big advertisement of my own skills … then again, that’s pretty much the purpose of a portfolio.

I’ll eventually give Saphiria.net away to Kiwa and her husband to play around with over the next month. Kiwa was the one that came up with the name after all so it’s only appropriate that I transfer ownership of the domain name to her. That leaves me AESpherea.org and ShoujoShop.com to fiddle around with … if she wants me to design a website for her future family, then I’d be willing to do for her as a token of gratitude and friendship.

With that said, those hosted on Saphiria.net will be migrated over to AESpherea.org over the course of the month … once I figure out who I’m hosting on it right now and what SQL tables, if any, I need to fix up …

This winter, I’d like to convert my bedroom in a hybrid bedroom/studio. I pretty much planned it in stages:

#0 — General clean-up: Organize clothes, cables, and furniture. Begin task: After Coconut Girl is released …

#1 — Remove bed. I will replace it with a closet-friendly cot or inflatable mattress. My bed is very old, ugly-smelling, and unstable so I’ve been meaning to get rid of it at some point … it’s just that I really never knew where I should put it. Begin task: November

#2 — Sound foam. Right now, I have a blanket on my wall to filter sound. However, as winter comes by, I’d like to use that blanket for sleeping. Begin task: November

#3 — Replace desk. My desk looks like it’s going to fall apart any minute now. I’m thinking of using an older plastic desk, which looks rather sturdy, considering the age. It’s either that or I sit on the floor again like I did before my first bedroom renovation. Begin task: December

#4 — Get rid of MacGyver’d items. I made a mic mount and pop filter using household objects. I want to get rid of them at some point and replace them with the real thing. Though, I made this the last step because it’s just for aesthetics. I could still record audio even with those makeshift objects but I personally would like to have nicer objects in my bedroom/studio.

On a brighter note, Kate Lee and Sherwin Liu’s Dignity of Men wasn’t really pulled … but it was more of a glitch in the system … last I checked with a recent posting by Woody before I headed off to work. I’m glad, too, as I really don’t want them to leave TMO. That would suck, but I would understand why they would leave.
